Rev. David Yonker was called to the First Christian Church of Sterling in August of 2004. He was born and raised in Missouri and calls Columbia, Missouri his hometown. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri and a Masters of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. Before coming to Sterling he served as youth minister at the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky for three years. He then went on to take the position of minister at the Smithfield Christian Church in Smithfield, Kentucky during his last year of seminary. David and his wife Elizabeth were married in July 2004. When not involved in church activities Dave enjoys both playing and watching sports, reading, and playing guitar.
